Due to the GO Expansion construction this weekend, GO is cancelling train service along the 65 Barrie line Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3. GO buses replace the trains.

  • GO buses start and end their trips in Highway 407 Bus Terminal.
  • GO buses along route 68F drop off or pick up passengers at Barrie Bus Terminal, Allandale Waterfront GO Station, Barrie South GO Station and then operate express — without stopping — to Highway 407 terminal.
  • GO buses along route 68G serve passengers at all stops, including Barrie Bus Terminal, Allandale Waterfront, Barrie South, Bradford GO Station, East Gwillimbury GO Station, Newmarket GO Station, Aurora GO Station, King City GO Station, Maple GO Station, Rutherford GO Station and Highway 407 terminal.
  • GO buses along route 65G serve Aurora, King City, Maple, Rutherford and Highway 407 terminal.
  • GO buses along route 65H operate express between Aurora and Highway 407 terminal.
  • GO buses along route 65J serve passengers in all stops, including East Gwillimbury, Newmarket, Aurora, King City, Maple, Rutherford and Highway 407 terminal.

  • GO buses along route 68H operate northbound only and serve Aurora, Newmarket, East Gwillimbury and Bradford.

Note that GO bus schedules differ from regular train schedules due to longer travel times.

Southbound passengers aboard regular buses along the 68 Barrie / Newmarket / Aurora route wishing to connect with buses along routes 65H and 65G have to wait 20 to 25 minutes in Aurora.

Northbound passengers aboard regular buses along the 65 East Gwillimbury / Newmarket / Toronto route, wishing to connect with buses along route 68 have to wait seven to 12 minutes in Aurora.

This Saturday and Sunday, no Barrie-line trains or buses operate to and from Downsview Park GO Station. Board or exit from TTC subway trains along Line 1 Yonge - University at Highway 407 Station to travel to and from Downsview Park or Union Station.

Barrie line train service resumes Monday, May 4, but, from May 4 until Sunday, May 10, GO is adjusting the schedules for some trains along the line due to residual effects of this weekend’s construction.

Metrolinx is expanding key areas of the Barrie-Line corridor to support improving service by adding a second track in the future. It’s also making significant station upgrades at Maple, King City and Aurora GO stations.

Specifically, this weekend, crews are also working in three areas:

Metrolinx and GO plan to accommodate more passengers and increase service along the Barrie line, as part of their GO Expansion Program (formerly “regional express rail”).

Downsview Park GO Station

Crews are repairing the electrical system Saturday, May 2. The work may affect the digital signage, payment machines and lighting.

Metrolinx crews are installing three culverts under the track continuously, day and night, from 10 p.m. Friday, May 1 and until 5 a.m. Monday, May 4. The transit agency says, “These infrastructure improvements are an essential step in bringing increased service to the line. By carrying them out over a weekend, our crews are able to work on the tracks safely and without interruption from live trains. We understand that night works are not ideal and will do our best to mitigate any impacts to the surrounding communities.”

Crews work in the rail corridor north of the station near Centre Street from 9 p.m. Friday, May 1 until 5:30 a.m. Monday, May 4.

They’ll use various trucks, excavators, a dozer, and a loader. You may hear noise and feel vibration during this work.
